UPDATES: KCSE Results January 8, 2024 Released

On Monday January 8, 2024, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) announced the release of the 2023 KCSE results. In a significant change from the previous years, the 2023 KCSE results will not be available via SMS code. Instead, students can access their individual exam results online either through a link on the KNEC website or directly at www.results.knec.ac.ke, as per the council’s statement.

Results were made available immediately following their announcement by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu. Candidates can obtain their official result slips from the examination centers where they took their exams.

Earlier in the day, Cabinet Secretary Machogu met with President William Ruto at State Lodge Eldoret to brief him on the results before making them public.

The exams, which started on October 23, 2023, were taken by approximately 903,260 candidates. The shift to online results access follows last year’s announcement by Machogu that the Ministry of Education was considering ending the SMS service for checking national examination results, following discrepancies observed during the release of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam results.
